Lichen Balls – Natural Decoration and Forage Material
Lichen balls are naturally formed clusters of dried lichen collected from clean, pesticide-free environments. They provide both aesthetic and functional benefits in bioactive enclosures by offering surface texture, shelter, and a mild food source for isopods and other detritivores.
They are particularly favoured by species such as Ardentiella, which readily graze on lichen as part of their natural diet. The fibrous, porous structure of lichen balls helps retain localized moisture and encourages natural foraging and hiding behaviour. As they gradually decompose, they contribute trace minerals and organic matter to the substrate.
Usage Instructions: Place lichen balls throughout the enclosure to provide cover, moisture retention, and natural foraging opportunities. Replace as they decompose naturally over time.
