Slime Mould – Blob (Badhamia utricularis)

Badhamia utricularis is a pale, slow-spreading species of slime mould that produces a fine, smooth network across surfaces. It serves as an excellent primary food source for high-end springtail species, while also being suitable for other springtails and microfauna cultures.

This species tends to form more compact growth patterns compared to Physarum polycephalum, making it easier to manage in smaller culture setups. It thrives under humid, low-light conditions and provides a nutrient-rich, natural feeding surface for springtails.

Key Points:

High-quality food source for high-end springtail species

Slower, denser growth than Physarum, ideal for contained cultures

Suitable for most springtails and other detritivores

Grows well under warm, humid conditions with mild carbohydrates

Usage Instructions:
Place a small section of Badhamia onto prepared agar or a damp substrate and feed with oats or similar mild carbohydrate sources. Keep the culture in a dark, humid environment and lightly mist when needed to maintain moisture.
