Repashy Morning Wood – Xylivore Gel Premix (Isopod Adapted Use)

Repashy Morning Wood is a super-firm, long-lasting gel premix originally formulated for wood-grazing fish, but it has proven to be highly effective as a nutrient supplement for wood-feeding isopods and other detritivores.

Its composition is rich in cellulose, plant matter, and seaweed, closely mimicking the nutritional elements found in decaying wood — the natural diet of many isopod species. This makes it particularly useful for species that rely heavily on lignin and cellulose digestion, such as Cubaris, Armadillidium, and Porcellio.

Encourages natural grazing behaviour and supports gut microbiota involved in wood digestion

We usually just use the powder directly but below are instructions for gel form

Usage Instructions (for Isopods)

Prepare according to Repashy’s gel directions:

Mix ¼ cup powder with ¾ cup cold water, stir until blended.

Heat (microwave 2–3 minutes or until boiling), stir, then pour into a shallow container or mold.

Allow to cool and set at room temperature.

Once firm, cut into small cubes or flakes. Offer a tiny portion on leaf litter or wood and remove any leftovers after 24–48 hours.

Prepared gel can be refrigerated for up to two weeks or frozen for up to six months.

Note:
This product is a supplement, not a replacement for leaf litter or decaying wood. Offer occasionally to boost nutrition, particularly for species with high wood-grazing activity.
