Leaf Litter – Natural Food Source and Habitat Cover
Leaf litter consists of naturally dried and partially decomposed leaves collected from clean, pesticide-free environments. It serves as both a primary food source and a habitat material for isopods, springtails, millipedes, and other detritivores.
As the leaves break down, they release essential nutrients into the substrate, promote microbial activity, and help recreate a natural forest-floor environment that supports healthy, active colonies.
Note:
Some evidence suggests that high tannin levels in certain leaf types may affect moulting in sensitive species. For an alternative, you can try our Asian Leaf Litter, which is lower in tannins and highly favoured by many isopods.
Usage Instructions:
Place a generous layer of leaf litter on top of the substrate and replace it as it decomposes. It can also be mixed into the substrate to improve structure and provide long-term nutrition.
