Coral Driftwood – Natural Shelter and Microhabitat Enrichment 10 -15 CM
Coral driftwood is a naturally weathered hardwood featuring a highly porous, hole-rich structure that mimics the appearance of coral. This unique formation provides both visual interest and functional benefits within bioactive enclosures.
The numerous cavities and tunnels create ideal microhabitats, offering shelter, humidity pockets, and safe hiding spaces for isopods and other invertebrates. This encourages natural behaviours such as exploring, clustering, and retreating, helping to reduce stress within the colony.
Its textured, porous surface also supports the development of beneficial biofilms and microorganisms, which can serve as an additional grazing source over time. Coral driftwood is slow to decompose, providing long-lasting structure while gradually contributing organic matter to the substrate.
Usage Instructions:
Place coral driftwood within the enclosure to create sheltered zones and climbing areas. Position in contact with slightly damp substrate to enhance localized humidity within its cavities. Pair with mosses or leaf litter to maximise microhabitat benefits.
