Driftwood – Natural Structure and Enclosure Enrichment 5 - 10 CM
Driftwood is naturally weathered hardwood that provides both structural and environmental benefits within bioactive enclosures. Its organic shape and textured surface make it an excellent addition for creating a more natural and dynamic habitat.
It offers climbing surfaces, shaded areas, and shelter for isopods and other invertebrates, encouraging natural behaviours such as exploring, hiding, and resting. The surface of driftwood also supports the gradual development of beneficial biofilms and microorganisms, which can act as a supplemental grazing source over time.
Driftwood is slow to decompose, ensuring long-lasting structure while gradually contributing organic matter to the substrate. Its presence helps to break up open spaces within the enclosure, promoting a more varied and enriching environment.
Usage Instructions:
Place driftwood securely within the enclosure, either resting on the substrate or partially embedded. Combine with mosses, leaf litter, or cork to enhance humidity retention and create additional shelter. Allow natural biofilm to develop over time for added enrichment.
